D’Ussé and Dollas

Yo Yo, What’s going On Good People?

I want to take the time to say thank you to all the birthday wishes. The amount of love from phone call, text messages, and other various forms of communication has made my day. Really it made my weekend.

My team surprised with breakfast, lunch, dinner, a bottle of Crown Apple, and a bottle of Dusse. They looked out for me for sure. I’m sire if anyone comes to my desk, they would think I’m an alcoholic, but I ain’t worried about that. As the night progresses, I ended up giving away my Dope Chris Taylor hoodie to someone after having cool conversations with them about the Good People Brand. Saturday I spent time with my good friends meeting his wedding party and celebrated my birthday along with my cousin, Ash. We were suppose to shoot dice ( One of the reasons for all the ones ) but she turned up too fast. Still, it was a great night. Today I’m having dinner with my family, sharing stories, and laughing. This is probable on of the best birthdays I’ve ever had.

I also realized that I took for granted the amount of peace everyone brings me in my life. I spent some time with someone this week and I don’t think I’ve ever regretted wasting time like that because they were draining. Let me be on the record and say this person isn’t a bad person. But aggressively forcing a friendship ain’t it. Not for me anyway.

Song on Repeat This Week

Concrete by Orion Sun - This first quarter looks like melodies and harmonies. And Orion Sun did not disappoint. Concrete is a minimalistic beat with a drum set keeping time. When I say she showed out, she showed out! Not to mention the lyric is real. The opening lines just resonate within me.

Lyrics

“No shade, but you gonna see (No)/
How you gonna throw dirt on my name jeez?/
Nigga, please, I know that you proud of me/
Sprouting from the underground through the concrete”

That’s literally been the energy I’ve been for a long time now. So it’s only right that I love this song.

What’s New

I’m on Day 14 of my daily verses and I’m not gonna lie. Either the verses are hitting or the verses are average. There have been some days where I wasn’t filling it and wanted to chill out. Or I felt like I was too stressed to write a verse. But I realized 2 things every time I pushed through.

  • I’m happy I accomplished what I set out to do for the day.

  • The verses usually end up being me journaling/venting of why I don’t have the energy/no feeling like my normal self.

It’s dope because I know these verses are going to end up being Work Flow Wednesdays or part of the 20 songs that’s coming out this year.

I want to take the time to say thank you to everyone who watched, commented and shared the first Work Flow Wednesday. I wasn’t ready for the overwhelming love and support. I’m honestly happy to share new music and the progress of the flow. On the real, I was STRESSED about getting everything done. From the video shoot to the color grading, I was working on a hope and a prayer. I’m in the talks of working with other people to create some future Work Flow Wednesdays, so be on the look out for some collaborations with mini music videos.

I’m fortunate for the opportunity to be interviewed by Beyond The Beat Media Platform. It’s wild how small the world is because we linked up and exchanged contact information at my Tipsy Thursday performance. Zuri was super dope and I’m excited to see how this interview play out. But one thing for sure. It’s gonna be a dope interview for sure.

I hope that everyone who reads is winning at the goals.
